Funding Application Requirements
The United Way of Essex and West Hudson is a non-profit organization that seeks to address the root causes of community concerns by aligning resources to best meet the health and human service needs of individuals, children and families throughout its service area.
To be eligible for funding consideration, an organization must meet all the following criteria:
- Non-profit 501(c)3
- Currently registered as a charity in the State of New Jersey.
- Requests should not exceed 48% of the total program cost.
- Must provide service within one or more of the following 13 UWEWH communities: Belleville, East Orange, East Newark, Harrison, Irvington, Kearny, Maplewood, Newark, North Arlington, Nutley, Orange, South Orange, West Orange
- Public school districts, state and county organizations are not eligible to receive funds, but may partner with an eligible organization.
- Requests for capital and related expenses will not be considered.
- Organizations currently funded by UWEWH must be fully compliant with the requirements listed in the 2009-2010 funding agreement:
- on-time quarterly programmatic and financial reports
- participate in quarterly Vision Council meetings
- participate in scheduled Grantee site visits
- communicate any changes in collaboration partners, staff and the organization's leadership to the UWEWH
- participate in the UWEWH annual fundraising campaign
