A GOOD FRIDAY FOR HUNDREDS

On April 14, 2006, Good Friday, the United Way of Essex and West Hudson, Agape Family Worship Center, PSE&G, and Feed the Children combined resources to provide local families with basic necessities to help make the Easter holiday a little brighter.

Light rain and sometimes chilly temperatures were no deterrent to the nearly 50+ volunteers from Agape Family Worship Center, the United Way of Essex and West Hudson and the community. Over 400 families and individuals received a pre-packaged box of food and personal items from Feed the Children. In addition, various donated items, such as new clothing and toiletries were given to each family or individual from the PSEG/United Way Family Power Initiative.

As part of their outreach ministry, Agape Family Worship Center, a non-denominational Christian church located in Rahway, NJ has partnered with the United Way of Essex and West Hudson for the past three years to benefit the needy families in the Newark-area. The pre-packaged food and personal items are purchased from Feed the Children, a non-profit Christian charitable organization dedicated to feeding the hungry worldwide. The PSE&G/United Way Family Power initiative aims to connect families and children to needed services and economic opportunities that promote family stability and self-sufficiency.

Realizing that no one organization can solve community problems alone, these four organizations partner each year to bring needed services to the Newark area and striving to build stronger communities together.
